About us
Sydney Lung Screen
As a team of respiratory physicians and specialists, we understand the critical importance of early detection in lung cancer. Lung cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in Australia. However, when detected early—before symptoms develop or progression to advanced stages—treatment is more effective, options are broader, and survival outcomes significantly improve. Lung cancer screening saves lives.
Unfortunately, in current healthcare systems, patients with incidental lung nodules are often lost to follow-up. Imaging can be repeated at varying intervals across different providers and sites, leading to delays, fragmented care, and difficulties for GPs to track results. In addition, limited access to timely specialist review—particularly by respiratory physicians—further contributes to missed opportunities for early diagnosis.
With the introduction of national lung cancer screening guidelines, the number of incidental nodules detected is expected to rise substantially, placing additional burden on primary care providers to manage these complex findings.
Sydney Lung Screen, based within Strathfield Private Hospital in Sydney’s Inner West, was established to address these challenges by providing a streamlined, rapid access lung cancer screening and nodule management service.
We offer a "one-stop" solution for patients with incidental lung nodules, suspected lung cancer, or those eligible for lung cancer screening. Primary care providers can confidently refer their patients knowing that: - All investigations, including low-dose CT scans, PET scans, and lung function tests, are coordinated efficiently. - Access to advanced diagnostic procedures, including CT-guided biopsy, linear EBUS, and surgical biopsy. - A multidisciplinary approach ensures timely input from respiratory physicians, radiologists, and cardiothoracic surgeons.

Our Mission
Our goal is to deliver timely, coordinated, and expert care to improve outcomes for patients with lung nodules or suspected lung cancer.
We aim to support GPs by simplifying the referral process and ensuring that patients do not fall through the cracks of a complex healthcare system. By catching cancers early, we not only improve survival but reduce the emotional and physical toll of late-stage disease.
